I didn’t expect much when I decided to change my night routine.
Like a lot of people, I used to treat skincare as something optional—something I’d do when I had time or felt motivated. Some nights I’d wash my face properly, other nights I’d skip it or rush through it without thinking. I assumed my skin was just “okay,” and that was that.
But after dealing with dullness, uneven texture, and the occasional breakout, I figured I’d try something simple: commit to a consistent night routine for one week. Nothing extreme. No expensive treatments. Just a few intentional steps, done properly, every night.
What happened over those seven days was more noticeable than I expected.
Before the Change: My Old Habits
Before starting, my routine was inconsistent at best.
Some nights I’d cleanse my face, other nights I’d just rinse it with water. Moisturizer? Only when my skin felt dry. And if I was tired, I’d skip everything entirely.
I didn’t think it mattered that much. But looking back, my skin reflected that lack of care—dull, slightly uneven, and not as healthy as it could be.
So I decided to simplify things and stick to a routine I could actually maintain.
